Development on Epic Mickey 2 is in full swing it seems, according to an anonymous tipster who says Disney is doing market research for the title now. The source has told Destructoid that the Disney pole asks users to pick from a selection of titles for the game, including Epic Mickey 2: Return of the Mad Doctor, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, Epic Mickey 2: Mystery on Mean Street, and just Epic Mickey 2. This is backed up by a snapshot of one question that asks those polled to choose their favourite from a range of different box artworks for the game, which would suggest development on it is already pretty far along. According to the report, the game will have a two-player split-screen option with Mickey and his brother Oswald The Lucky Rabbit playable, while Mickey's paint and thinner powers make a return. It's being lined up for release on Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3, claims the source, making no mention of 3DS, Vita or Wii U. Warren Spector told press earlier this year that there was 'no shortage' of interesting challenges that could be tackled with a prospective sequel. And the original's 'strong' sales would certainly suggest a sequel is likely. Mike Jackson

SCE 'not concerned' by 3D TV adoption rat
SCEE senior development manager Simon Benson has said the platform holder isn't concerned by the reportedly slow consumer uptake of 3D TVs. "It's certainly not a concern for us on the game side, the major reason being... when we're adding 3D features to a game, it's not a significant overhead for us," he told Gamesindustry.biz. It's not like we have to justify being able to sell millions more games because of it, it's just another feature of the game."What we're talking about here is, in some cases we've had titles where 3D has been half a percent of overhead," he added. "It can literally be the render programmer spending a couple of weeks manipulating it... So often it's the case of it doesn't even hit the radar of whether we should or shouldn't, it can just be done."Clearly 3D TV sales are important to SCE parent Sony though, which has invested heavily in the technology. Benson said the price of 3D sets is coming down "all the time", suggesting "the margins aren't that different" between 3D and non-3D TVs, which should draw new customers in."We're not asking people to fork out twice as much here, and I think what probably going to happen over time is it'll be the case like now, if you try and go out and buy an standard definition TV you probably just wouldn't be able to," he said.At E3 in June, Sony revealed plans to release a PlayStation-branded 3D monitor designed to be affordable for all later this year.Last week, EA CEO John Riccitiello said 3D gaming hasn't caught on as the company once expected it might, and that the firm plans to refocus investment in other areas. BioWare, Peter Moore get EA promotions
A reshuffle of EA's management has seen former EA Sports boss Peter Moore promoted, and Mass Effect developer BioWare elevated to one of the company's four publishing labels. BioWare will now sit alongside EA Games, EA Sports and EA Play, all overlooked by another freshly-promoted exec, former EA Games president Frank Gibeau.Ex-EA Mobile GM Barry Cottle will now head up EA Interactive, the company said on its news blog, which now includes Playfish, Pogo, EA Mobile, EA's partnership with Hasbro, the online and mobile business in Asia and soon, PopCap.EA CEO John Riccitiello said: "First, I think it's a great reflection on EA that we are able to tap so much world-class leadership from within our own ranks. The depth of talent and leadership in this company is inspiring. "Second, as I look across EA and back on its history, I come to an important realization. The people who succeed here are the ones who map their creative vision over a deep understanding of what our consumers want. Our Label structure reflects that strategy. It creates a close partnership between developers and product marketers that connects the creative process to our consumers." Andy Robinson
Resident Evil 5 Accident 16 Zombies Inju
This morning in Toronto, 16 zombies were injured on the set of the Resident Evil 5 movie. "Big deal," I'll bet your thinking, "I killed like 16 jillion zombies last night." Well, my cynical friend: These were real zombies. Or, more accurately, real actors dressed as zombies.According to completely reputable news source TMZ, a gaggle of fully-made up actors were standing on set with wheels. The set "suddenly moved," and 16 zombified-actors plummeted over 20 feet to the ground. That's like falling off the roof of a two-story house! Reportedly, none of the injuries were life-threatening, but there were still broken limbs and back injuries, so it's not like this wasn't a serious deal. Here's a macabre detail: The actors were so heavily made up with fake wounds and gore, EMTs had trouble determining real injuries from fake ones. Unlike real zombies, the actors did not simply continue shambling along with broken legs and spines. They were taken to a local hospital to be patched up.Let's hope the zombies get better soon, yeah?Source: TMZAll of the best people are following Stephen Johnson's twitter feed. 3DS Yoshi, Ace Attorney reveals next week

Famitsu has already outed Monster Hunter for 3DS, but according to rumours picked up and translated by Gematsu there are plenty more announcements in store.A new Yoshi side-scroller is apparently in the works at Kirby's Epic Yarn developer Good-Feel, a fifth Ace Attorney featuring Miles Edgeworth is on the way, as is a multiplatform God Eater title for 3DS and Vita, plus a new Etrian Odyssey for 3DS.Nintendo's also expected to announce plans to release a Super Mario Land 3D demo, and to date The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords for eShop. Criterion making an open-world racer
Burnout and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit developer Criterion Games may be working on new open-world racer, if a current job advert is anything to go by. An opening for an AI programmer at Criterion listed on EA's recruitment website is seeking a candidate capable of creating "believable, open world AI Racing Drivers".Although the studio's most recent game, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, was quite a linear affair, Criterion is a dab hand at open-world racers, with Burnout Paradise serving as the most obvious example. The next game in the Burnout series. Burnout Crash, is a top-down arcade game set for release on XBLA and PSN later this month. Tamoor Hussain

Dead Island dev apologises for 'feminist
Another day, jimmy choo boots, another controversial report with Dead Island at its core. Almost like some sort of marketing stunt. Someone with programming know-how and a really boring life, we imagine, has discovered a line of code hidden in Dead Island that names a 'feminist wh*re' skill for the female character Purna and posted it online. That skill doesn't appear anywhere in the actual gameplay, but has nevertheless sparked outrage. Developer Techland has moved to apologise for the slur, which it says 'a programmer considered a private joke', and promises disciplinary action. "It has come to our attention that one of Dead Island's leftover debug files contains a highly inappropriate internal script name of one of the character skills. This has been inexcusably overlooked and released with the game," it said. "The line in question was something a programmer considered a private joke. The skill naturaly [sic] has a completely different in-game name and the script reference was also changed. What is left is a part of an obscure debug function. This is merely an explanation but by no means an excuse. In the end that code was made a part of the product and signed with our company name."We deeply regret that fact and we apologize to all our customers or anyone who might have been offended by that inappropriate expression. The person responsible for this unfortunate situation will face professional consequences for violating the professional standards and beliefs Techland stands for."A serious matter or a big hoo-ha over nothing? You decide. But this is the second time in one week the folks behind Dead Island have found themselves apologising on behalf of the zombie shooter, after early purchasers through Steam discovered they were accidentally served a disastrously buggy development version of the game.Facepalm. Twisted Metal delayed to 2012
PS3 exclusive Twisted Metal has been delayed from its previously targeted October 4 release until "early 2012" to allow for extra polishing, Eat Sleep Play co-founder David Jaffe said today. Writing on the PlayStation Blog, Jaffe said: "A lot of dedicated, supportive, passionate Twisted Metal fans have been waiting for the return of Calypso's demented contest for a long time but the truth is: we're just not ready yet."It sucks bad when games miss their announced launch dates. We're gamers too and we know how annoying it is. It's disappointing and frustrating and it really takes the wind out of your sails if you're a fan that has been looking forward to playing a title for a long time."Thing is, you gotta trust me when I tell you that - with this extra time for tuning and polish - the game is going to be so much better than it already is... There's a great, classic industry saying by legendary Nintendo designer - and personal hero - Shigeru Miyamoto that goes a little something like this: 'A late game is only late until it ships. A bad game is bad until the end of time."We plan to ship the best Twisted Metal ever made... Most importantly, we plan on treating you - the kind folks who play our game (and pay our bills) - like the VIPs that you are. You only deserve our best and we appreciate your understanding as we take a little more time to guarantee that our best is what we deliver." Tom Ivan
Skyrim Manual Reveals That You Can Punch
The Elder Scrolls 5: SkyrimNews (37)Previews (16)ReviewVideos (22)Screenshots (27)Cheats and WalkthroughsThe Elder Scrolls 5: SkyrimNews (37)Previews (16)ReviewVideos (22)Screenshots (27)Cheats and WalkthroughsThe Elder Scrolls 5: SkyrimNews (37)Previews (16)ReviewVideos (22)Screenshots (27)Cheats and Walkthroughs Yesterday you got to take a first look at the world map for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, which Bethesda Softworks will release on November 11. That was pretty cool, cheap jimmy choo, but a just-leaked copy of the game manual offers a bit more substance in terms of what we can expect from the game.Screen caps of the booklet can be found at imgur (via CVG). It's pretty standard-issue stuff for the most part; minor changes to the rules and UI here and there, jimmy choo outlet, but overall the rules in Skyrim are largely the same as they were in Oblivion and Morrowind. One thing did catch my eye though, a new element to the game's dialogue system: brawling. In addition to being able to persuade, intimidate and bribe the people of Skyrim, you'll also have the option of just throwing your head back in disgust and throw down with your fists. These unarmed battles are always non-lethal as long as weapons remain sheathed; as soon as lethal force is used, your friendly brawl turns into a full-blown crime. Sort of places new value on the game's unarmed combat skill in the social realm, doesn't it?Also revealed is the fact that you'll be able to interact with cooking pots to prepare various food items. You'll need the appropriate ingredients in order to complete the task, of course. Sounds like a good way to earn some extra scratch though, especially if your Skyrim hero, like the previous ones from Oblivion and Morrowind, doesn't require food in order to survive.Source: imgur
Sledgehammer's 3rd person CoD game 'was c
Sledgehammer Games, the Activision studio formed to take the Call of Duty series in a new direction, has spoken about its initial work on a third person action adventure game in the series and its subsequent switch to co-developing Modern Warfare 3 with Infinity Ward. "We came on board to make a third person action adventure game in the Call of Duty franchise and we were working on it for about six months," Sledgehammer CEO Glen Schofield told GameSpot.Head of studio development Michael Condrey added: "We had about six to eight months on that and put a prototype together that was pretty compelling and it looked really good."[Then] we had the opportunity to work on the biggest thing in the industry with a developer in Infinity Ward that has demonstrated that they know how to do exceptional software. It was an opportunity we couldn't miss."There are a lot of people on the team who have worked on Call of Duty before, on first-person shooters before, so there's a lot of built-in knowledge about the first-person shooter genre and a lot of passionate gamers," Condrey said. "There are guys on the floor who are on their tenth prestige in Black Ops. So it was a nice marriage of experience in the genre and sort of fan desire to work on this franchise."Modern Warfare 3 is out on November 8. Earlier today, Activision launched the debut multiplayer trailer for the game. Tom Ivan
