ACE Online Interview Bigger and Badder in

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

OnRPG: Is there any prmtoility that you will include another faction aside from the Bygeniou and Arlington? Why or why not?
Although story-wise there are other factions, it is highly doubtful that another faction will appear. It would probably require a significant overrmthof the game overall.。

Combat in ACE Online

 。

OnRPG: The latest major update for the game is Ace Online's Episode 3, War of Pandea. Will you be releasing episode 4 anytime soon?
Episode 4 is still in the very early stages. I do not have any information on itthe developers at Masangsoft are still working on the planning. Of course we're not even done with Episode 3 yet so there's still plenty of ACE Online for everyone until Ep4.。

 。

OnRPG: Can't the boss mobs in ACE online get any bigger than they are? Will you be adding bigger, badder monsters in the succeeding pas?
New bosses will be coming in the Episode 3.3 introduction of the "Infinity Field". They are of a whole new breed of bosses that are far more deadly and capable than the previous. These new bosses are bigger, badder, and are capable of doing things that bosses before were unable to do. It is a challenge to beginners and veterans alike and move definitely will req teamwork.。

 。

Fighting Dragons

Kreasia Holy Ground

OnRPG: Among thur types (B-gear, A-gear, I-gear and M-gear) which is the most preferred ship used by players? Why do you think so?
The overwhelming majority of players like the B-Gear for its versatility and overwhelming bombing capabilities. However in the end a good player can still out-fly a bad one. If oakes the time to polish and hone their actual flying skills then you can become king of the skies regardless of your gear.。

OnRPG: Are there any updates you'd like to share to us aside from the patch update for march?
There are a lot of changes coming for the game in 2010. Many of which I cannot tell at this time due to lack of information but I can say that the "Infinity Field" addition to the game will introduce many new aspects that will offer players more versatility in customization of their characters. There are still lots more to come and we want everyone to tryout when the new stuff comes.。

OnRPG: Has there been an increase in player participation in the nations? Why do you think there's been more/less participation of players in these wars?
There have been many changes to the game since its release into Episode 3. One of these was a complete overhaul of the existing nation war system. Although the smaller scale fights don't occur as much, the larger scale fights have become far bigger. It's a virtual light show when you start fighting in these large battlof course you have to see to believe.。

 。

OnRPG: Where do you base the updates you include in the patches?
Much oe ideas for patches are a collaboration of ideas from the various hosts of the game internationally. Since this game has an international audience, there is something for everyone as ideas come from different nations all over the world.。

Ace Online is a long time running space ship themed MMO from Subagames. The biggest update coming from this game was thlease of its third episode, War of Pandea. Now with the first quarter of the year nearing its end we get to talk to the guys at Subagames again and ask what's up with Ace Online.。

OnRPG: There have been a lot of GM shifts during the game's course, how has the company beendling those changes?
Although there were many shifts, the absolute core GM Team has not changnd so much of the knowledge and experience was kept so it can be handed down to the newer staff.。

OnRPG: Thank you for your time!
Glad to be of service!。

OnRPG: Is there any possibility that you will be including a new gear type in the future? Wh why not?
We believe that 4 Gears is the magic number. Adding a 5thGear would make people question on its specy and may end up causing a bigger problem to integrate. The 4 gears seem to cover all possible fields in the game sufficiently.。

 。

OnRPG: Where do you get the ideas for the weapons and armor upgrades you provide players in Ace Onlinbsp;
Sometimes we dig up the game's history and use ideas from there. Other times we try to researow best to relate various aspects of the game with mythology. For event items, we just go crazy with the actual feel and nature of the holiday the event takes place and just run away with the idea. Like Christmas tree missiles.。

ACE Online Interview: Bigger and Badder in 2010
Questions by Vincent Haoson (Vincenthaoson), OnRPG Journalist
Answered by [GM] EchoSaviour。

 。

 。

 。

OnRPG: What's the most populated map in terms of PVE for players? Why do you think so?
For the high level players, It would be a map called "Barren Lands". Although it's a neutral map and players from both nations can go there it is generally a map loved by all. Excellent drop and exp rates in that map allow the hlevel players to further perfect their characters.。

 。

 。

 。

OnRPG: It's been three months since the start of the year how has the game been doso far in 2010?
It has been a year to remember so far, lots of improvements in many areas of the game. Mevents, more interaction with the GM's, and a lot more ways for a player to get from free stuff too! Basically we started the year with a bang and it hasn't let up yet.。

 。

OnRPG: With the game strictly restricted to piloting ships and travelling in space have you guys been keeping the players interested?
Well most of the time you'rying around and shooting down what's in your way but on the other side of the coin you can spend much of your time in town and just socializing with friends and allies online. Also another key factor to keeping the interest was all the crazy events we're running. Events with new items, events with the GM Team, events through the forum and website, there are now many new ways to experience the game.。

 。

OnRPG: Are there any new major patches coming up for Ace Online? Why?
The upcoming Episode 3.3 patch would bring MASSIVE changes to the game over the course of the year. Plenty of new content and features are coming. Some of the content will breathe new life into the game as it opens up the endgame for the players. Actually we just launched a new patch for beginner players so basically it's now a lot er to reach that endgame now.。

OnRPG: What are the things you are looking into adding into the game for 2010?
The upcoming Episode 3.3 patch will introduce the first stage of a raid instance system called the "Infinity Field". There are multiple stages that will be added over the course of the year, and each one will have their own unique identity. The first one, the "Kreasia Holy Land" is pretty much a preview of what's to come. It's jet fighters versus dragons, so you can get the idea of how epic this content is.。

Allods Online Review It's not WoW

 。

 。

 。

The job system in Allods is similar to a lot of MMORPGs out there. There are no faction exclusive jobs in Allods. The job class' names may be different but the classes have a corresponding "rmtanate" job in the opposite faction.。

Playing Goblinoball

 。

Allods mages are not overpowered. Magic spells can actually miss in Allods. Though the spells still retain the magic attribute, it is not guaranteed that they will always hit. According to one player who I was able to talk to, he mage is a crit type. Anyone and everyone who has played a lot of MMOs would think that is weird. However, based on what I experiermtnwith my summoner, I think that's a good way of allocating points.。

There are a lot of faction centric features in Allods Online. Most of them concentrate on faction vs. faction warfare. However there is one game system in Allods that doesn't consider a groups faction in segregating players. It's the official alternative for questing, PvE and PvP. It's Goblinball. The objective of the game is to kick the goblin that serves as the ball into the enemy's goal. Similar to soccer your task is to defend your goal while scoring. Goblinball is an enjoyable sport/mini-game to play. It successfully gives players another thing to look fod to aside from the daily grind.。

Allods is a grinding, story-driven MMORPG. Your main way of levelling in Allods is through the quests, which NPCs will provide for you. Grinding alone will take a while because the quests provide more experience points. I think this levelling system really forces you to do the quests. A lot of players who are used to grinding will find it unacceptable that you are relying on queso level up. Though I think this works well for Allods because it emphasizes that the game is story driven. However, relying heavily on quests in Allods may in fact be bad in the long run. Repetitive questing can take a toll on players and can eventually make them quit the game.。

 。

 。

Allods Characters

 。

There have been a lot of MMOs lately that have taken the WoW interface and used it in their own MMORPG. Developers who have taken this route have had hits and misses which ended in the labelling of their MMORPGs as mere "WoW Clones". Allods Online is a good example of such an MMO. Yon see a lot of WoW elements incorporated to its interface and gameplay. However, what separates Allods Online from other half-baked MMORPGs is that it has managed to refine itself into an MMO that can get the attention of even a jaded gaming market.。

 。

 。

Interface at the inside of a Ship

Allods Online Review: It's not WoW
By Vincent Haoson (Vincenthaoson), OnRPG Journalist。

 。

 。

On board a flying ship

 。

Personally, when I saw the game trailer and heard of the pertinent game features I wanted to jump the gun and play Allods. Now it seems that I justified on hoping that I would get myself into a great game. I don't think Allods Online will ever topple WoW. However, Allods for sure will provide good competitive encouragement for MMO developers because there's a F2P of this calibre. I cannot say that Allods is a perfect MMO at the moment, because it's just in OBT. The game has a lot of potential and I'd be keeping my eye out for game updates in the future.。

Another unique system in Allods Online is that there is a stat allocation system. Unlike other MMORPGs of this calibre, you can allocate stat points. The levelling system in Allods is similar to a lot of stat based MMORPGs out there. It means that you get stat points whenever your character levels. There is still a job and class locked growth system in Allods but with the stat system in place, you can actually customize and create your build. I personally think that the Allods game system is a refreshing take on character development. People who are used to mages always hitting and nuking inform the sidelines are forced to rethink their strategy in Allods.。

 。

I cannot deny the similarities that Allods has with World of Warcraft. However, I was very surprised that the game did not follow with a cinematic opening. Once you create your character (belonging ither the League or the Imperial side) you are immediately put into the middle of the action.  The game practically puts you right in the middle of the story, which is similar to Dungeons & Dragons Online. You actually get to see how the story develops. On the League side you actually witness a change in the environment when you are invaded by the enemy. In the Imperial side you are given a taste of what you will be experiencing and what it means to be part of a ship. I was really taken aback with what I saw in the game because you can only experience these things when you're playing a P2P MMORPG.。

 。

Character selection on the other hand reminded me of Neosteam. The Gibberlings were the Allod version of Neosteams furry Poms. Elves meanwhile, have wings. Yes, that's right, all elves in Allod have wings (nice going Allods team, another game that exemplifies theminine" nature of elves, male or female. Personally though I'm a League summoner so I'm really complaining). The game pushes the archetypical classifications of a lot of the races found in MMORPGs. However I personally don't think you will notice much because the character designs are so good.。

If you started the game with the Imperial faction, you've already experienced what a ship looks like. You eventually get to contyour own Astral ship. Like in building real ships, owning one takes time and a lot of money. However the benefits of having a ship really outweighs the cons. You get to travel around and see the beautiful world of Allods. You can also experience ship-to-ship battles similar to what you experienced when you started with the Imperials. The Astral Ship experience doesn't stop with just the creation. Astral Ships need to be manned too. Similar to real ships you need to have a navigator, helmsman, engineer, repairmen and of course gunners. I haven't seen how this works in the real player perspective but as far as I can see this can work out especially if you have friends who can man those posts in your ship.

Face of Mankind Preview One Thing Leads to Another

Let me get this out of the way right now. This is not a game for the weak of heart. Sure, they may have added a nice little zone for new players to frolic in while they get a grasp on the game, but after that it's watch your back time. You'll have to fend off gankers and enemies while you try to make your living. There are no safe zones (not counting the cloning facility where you spawn upon death) unless you go deep into your factions base behind high security barriers, but even those can be hacked. Get to know your faction, stick in groups, or prepare to die a lot.。

 。

 。

This game may not be perfect but it's worth a try. It's such a unique experience to be in a world where there isn't a NPC to be found. If you're into role-playing  this game might be for you due to its player-driven economy and politics. The game might be confusing to start off in but don't let that deter you from giving this game a valid play-through.  So my verdict would have to be a 7/10.。

 。

This game has an option to subscribe to the game for $10 a month. Now, before you stand up and rage about this in a skill dependant game let me link you to the perks. Check the forum discussion about this. As you can see, there isn't much of a advantage, if any, when it comes to combat. The benefits offer more in the ways of convenience than power. Unless you plan on taking control of one the factions in a high-ranking position or crafting all your own items then you won't need pay a cent.。

This game died a while ago and has been brought back by the same company. Since then there has been updates, tweaks, and additions about every week. I am very impressed with how they listen to their players and keep pumping out updates on a regular basis. They seem very determined to make sure the game clicks well this time which is a great thing! Face of Mankind still attracts only a niche audience but the game is showing huge amounts of potential thanks to the dedication of the staff.。

 。

Pros:
- Player-driven.
- Unique experience.
- Developers  seem to actually care about the game。

 。

 。

Save at faction base

 。

 。

 。

Cons:
- Graphics are dated.
- Confusing to learn but new tutorials are being put in place.
- A very niche game.。

Sounds thrilling right? So let's chat combat. After you either purchase or craft your own armor and firearms you're ready to fight. Combat is similar to your normal shooters, if you put your crosshairs over it you're probably going to hurt it. The recoil can be frustrating for inexperienced players though. In most factions you'll experience combat by either defending your base or trying to take out others. In the mercenary faction you can take hit man contracts given by other factions.。

 。

 。

Now for one of the more interesting points of this game, which is that it's mostly run by the players themselves. The factions are led by players, all the items are made by players, if you go on a killing spree player-run police will come and send you to jail, and those are just a few examples. Killing someone in another faction could have dire consequences not only for you but for your entire faction. The phrase 'one thing leads to another ' really describes the essence of this game when it comes to your actions. You can get marked as a rogue and get stripped of your faction privileges. Also, for each person you kill you get penalty points, get enough points and you'll become a Most Wanted. Players that belong to the LED can and will arrest you if you become a pest but more often than not the people you've killed will take care of you personally.。

Face of Mankind Preview: One Thing Leads to Another
Jason Gallienne (Jrgsubzero), OnRPG Journalist。

Now let's get to talking about the game. It's a sci-fi first/third person shooter with RPG elements, or a "Massively Multiplayer Online Action RPG in a single persistent universe" as they call it. There are 8 factions fighting for dominance either by military or the economy. Each faction has its own perks and uniform as well as back-story. Please visit the Faction Page for detailed information on this subject.。

In-World RPG Elements

 。

The RPG element comes from the crafting, mining, and gear system. Mining is done from terminals found in each of the cities/colonies. All you have to do it boot it up, tell it what you want to mine, and you're off. You don't have to attend to it while it does this so you're free to do other things. Producing weapons/armor/med kits/etc is done almost the same way. Locate the production terminal, buy the production manual, make sure you have the crafting materials stored in that bases storage, and tell it how many you want to make.。

 。

 。

Here's an example. Let's say you kill someone. A high ranking person in your faction will usually ask why and if you don't have a good reason you'll get a warning. Keep it up and you'll get fined for some of your credits. Continue and you'll get expelled from the faction all together. Now, all factions are run differently so punishments depend on the person running said faction. Don't get me wrong though, nothing is keeping you from being a one-man terror. Just expect a lot of hostility and cops trying to arrest you.。

Face of Mankind, this game lives up to its name. Between the political scandals, the shady operations, drug dealing, and wars over resources this game has a real-life feel to it. With danger around every corner will you be able to make your way in this world?。

Sean Kingston's Savior -- He Was Puking Blood

5/30/2011 1:05 PM PDTby TMZ Staff The guy who heroically jumped into the water to save Sean Kingston says the singer was spitting up blood after his jet ski accident last night -- but that Sean was responsive and even spoke during the rescue. Jonathan Rivera, a member of the Coast Guard, says he was driving his boat around Star Island on his day off ... when he was called over to the accident scene by a man and a woman on a jet ski. Rivera says he noticed an empty jet ski, a woman in the water floating (she was wearing a vest and complaining her head hurt) and Kingston.Rivera says the two people on the jet ski were trying to hold Kingston up, but they were struggling to keep his head above water. Rivera says Kingston's size was a problem for them, as his life vest had come off.So Rivera says he jumped in the water and noticed Kingston was "puking up blood out of his mouth."Rivera says he wrapped his arms around Kingston and held on to the jet ski to help keep Kingston's head above water. Rivera said Kingston was "convulsing and throwing up blood all over me" -- but said he didn't notice any head trauma. Rivera tells us he held onto Kingston for about 15 minutes, until a police boat finally arrived. Rivera says he doesn't think he could have held on much longer than he did. Rivera says when help arrived, he told Sean he was going to be okay. He says Kingston repeated back to him, "I'm going to be okay." When it came time to get Kingston into the boat, Rivera says Kingston was able to follow directions, though he did need some assistance getting in. From there, paramedics quickly came and cleaned Kingston up and rushed him to an ambulance that was waiting nearby. Rivera, who says he didn't recognize Kingston until well into the rescue, tells us, “I mean regardless of whether I was in the Coast Guard, I would have still jumped off to help him. He needed help."Jimmy Vega, who was with Rivera at the time and assisted in rescuing Kingston, talked to a local reporter (see below) and explained, "We were about to turn back around [and go home] when we noticed him. I truly believe if we did turn around, he would not be with us today."

Angels Online Interview

By Rick Charbs, Onrpg Writer
Person interviewed: Joyce Zhou, Product assistant of AO

Angels Online is an ever-evolving “cute MMORPG” released by IGG. During this interview, held with Joyce Zhou, product assistant of Angels Online, we have distinguished that there is certainly a bright future for this title: “The new expansion “Green Forest” is currently in development, so there is always something new coming for Angels Online!” explained Joyce. Provided that you are not too old to judge this game by its style, you will surely enjoy what is to come in the near future!

Onrpg: It is understood that Angels Online now has a special in-game bot program. How has this affected the game?

Angels Online: After the release of the new expansion "the Lost Atlantis", the highest character level was raised to 100. If newbie players cannot level up fast, the level gap between them and veteran players will grow. We feel this is not good for the game as a whole.

In order to help newbie players level up fast and give our veterans something more than boring monster killing, we have released an AFK tool, the Angel Baby, for all players to use. Players have a chance to experience more game elements and systems after they raise their level. For example, the Totem Battle becomes much more fun becasue more and more players and guilds can take part.

Onrpg: IGG runs many events for Angels Online, both in the forum and in-game. What are some of the ongoing events players can participate in?

Angels Online: As a cute MMORPG, most Angels Online players are relatively young. Being they are our primary audience, we’ve decided we should be paying more attention to in-game interaction and holding more events for them.

Recently, in order to buzz the in-game atmosphere, we held the “Sharks Coming” event to offer all players a chance to challenge those monsters with distinct shapes and high drop rates. The GM also randomly selected 30 lucky players and presented them with Battlefield Cursed Stones after the event ended.

The “Pet for Precious” event has also been very popular in game. By raising 2 or 3 ordinary pets, players can then exchange them for an advanced pet from a GM after it reaches the required level.

Onrpg: The Item Mall is a popular addition to this title. What items will we soon be able to purchase?

Angels Online: Well, items which help players level up fast are always available in the Item Mall. Because Thanksgiving will be here soon, a number of new Paper Moppets will be on the shelf. What’s more, some hot items will be sold at a discount soon. All players are welcome to join us!

Onrpg: Despite the already strong customization value of the game, will there be more options for character customization in the near future?

Angels Online: At present, players can change their character shapes, complexion and even gender with some of the items available. Players can also change their skills and learn skills from other classes.

In the Lost Atlantis, we haven’t updated this part yet, however, we will add some new elements such as various shapes and stances in the near future.

Onrpg: How is Angels Online such a unique MMORPG? What plans do you have for further enhancing this factor?

Angels Online: Thank you for your question. Angels Online possesses a unique robot system and an exceptional PVP system. Players in Angels Online can even learn skills from different classes’ if they would like.

The Robot system is specially designed for Production players. In the new expansion, new robots with new functions are available for all Production players to quicken their manufacturing speed. Apart from the Totem Battle, we have also released a new PVP system, the Holy Battlefield, in which players will be randomly divided into two armies and they have to capture crystals to win. Fighting players can take part in the capturing of crystals while Production players can build defensive devices to hold the enemies back.

Onrpg: A very popular feature of the game is “Totem Wars”. Could you please explain this event?

Angels Online: Sure. The Totem Battle was released early and it continued the Outpost Battlefield system. Players can monopolize all materials in the area after they occupy the totem. Players who really distinguish themselves in battle even have a chance to obtain special equipment and titles.

The Totem Battle’s design is based on battle among guilds. Each map possesses a faction totem. By destroying the totem, players from the winning guild can monopolize all materials on this map. They can also trade with local NPCs, explore special materials, accept special quests and challenge the BOSS.

Onrpg: What have been your most memorable moments of running AO so far?

Angels Online: Hehe, fun question. Some of my friends even acted as ordinary players and created a guild in game to take part in the Totem Battle. After we defeated the most powerful guild in the server and occupied their totem, the whole guild was still cheerful. The cooperation and the friendship, not victory, was the most important thing to them. This is the sign of a true ‘community’ of players, which is something we really stress in AO.

Onrpg: What is your personal favourite faction in Angels Online?

Angels Online: As the publishers of Angels Online, we were able to experience a new system, the Holy Battlefield, first after the new expansion was released. What a surprise! Holy Battlefield is more reasonable than the Totem Battle. It offers players more interaction. It starts with participants being randomly divided into two armies which must PVP and capture crystals from their opponents. With the inclusion of Production class players building defences, and Fighting players capturing crystals and …well, fighting, we felt it was a really unique way of approaching PVP battle.

Players’ skills are not the only thing that matters in game. Team work and cooperation can decide whether an army can win the battle or not! It’s this team-based strategy that helps develop bonds of friendship among guild members and players in general.
After the event ends, players from both armies can obtain abundant rewards, making it fun for everyone!

Onrpg: What are the restrictions to owning a pet, if you do not wish to pay real money for them? Is payment necessary to distinguish yourself as a player?

Angels Online: Wind Elf, Fire Elf, Water Elf and Earth Elf are available in all cities in game. After players gain enough in-game coins, they can buy these pets from the appointed NPC.

It is wrong if you think that players have to buy items in the Angels Online Item Mall to succeed in AO. Each player can become a top player, even if they’ve never used the Item Mall. Items in the Item Mall just offer players more fun and faster leveling.

Players can set stalls in game. At present, most items in the Item Mall can be bought from players’ stalls in game using in game money.

Onrpg: Angels Online has undergone many updates, including a major expansion pack. What are the plans for future updates of the game?

Angels Online: Yeah, as you said, the new expansion “The Lost Atlantis” was released in October. Future plans will be made according to players’ level details and the game development. The new expansion “Green Forest” is currently in development, so there is always something new coming for Angels Online!

KartRider Preview

KartRider is the newest game from Nexon, the same company who has brought you Maplestory. This game can best be described as an almost exact clone of the classic MarioKart series of games from Nintendo. Basically, you pick a driver out of a male or female one (though there should be more available from their cash shop) and jump right into their tutorial missions.

These tutorial missions are missions that take maybe 2 minutes each if you read all the text on the screen that they give you to teach you how to pull off various maneuvers. While they are not terribly difficult, the intent is to learn how to play not to toss you into the frying pan. Once these missions are done you are allowed to jump right in game and start playing.

There are a variety of tracks with assorted degrees of difficulty to choose from. Each track has their own obstacles that do their best to prevent you from finishing the race. Once you are actually racing, if you are not first to finish, you are given 10 seconds to make it to the finish line or you are marked as “did not finish” which means you earn less experience points and no money instead of a smaller amount from finishing outside of first place.

The gameplay of KartRider is such that by racing you earn experience. This experience is used to help you get licenses to go to more advanced game lobbies to race against those similar in experience to yourself. Since only the rookie and novice lobbies were open during the beta test, I am unable to tell you if this really works or not.

One thing I liked was the old school graphics that are looking like they are from 32/64 bit era of console gaming. For some games I know that I want a truly lifelike experience which requires a 7.1 surround sound system and computer specs that only the truly elite have. Other times though, like when I was playing KartRider, I just wanted to reclaim a small piece of my childhood with a modern twist. With some minor exceptions, I felt like I was sitting down around my TV with a console and playing one of my favorite games of all time.

I wish I had a release date to share with you all, but Nexon is keeping tight lipped about the launch of the game. Keep your eyes peeled on the front page of Onrpg.com for the announcement as soon as we can get confirmation from Nexon!

Crimecraft Bleedout- 2011 ReReview

By Michael Sagoe (Mikedot), OnRPG Journalist。 。 。

 。

Features/Gameplay – 3。

 。

 。

 。

Player models also give off a good amount of detail with solid animations, too. I just wish they could have done something with the model faces having a weird, creepy stare which makes them look more like living manikins rather than people. All of this gets wrapped up in a pretty bloody stained bow as killing your enemies viciously includes lots of gibs and ragdoll physics. Strange enough, though, I feel like the gore is a bit overdone (It seems like everyone in CrimeCraft is squishy and have open circulatory systems or something, because even a quick stab to the neck will make an enemy’s head explode.)。

 。

 。

 。

Customization - 3。

The available modes here contain a good amount of variety over the basics. While CrimeCraft contains your standard FFA, TDM and CTF (Renamed as Riot, Shootout and Snatch & Grab), there’s a couple of modes that change up the pace such as Robbery and Safeguard. After giving those modes a try, I can say that while they break up the monotony of straight forward shooting, they do lose its luster after a while. One nice feature with game modes is that other players are free to jump into your game at any time, which is great for PvE matches when you need some backup.。

There’s also crafting professions you can choose from that allow you make different weapons, outfits and other items. My personal favorite: Chemist profession, which lets me make wonderful “medicines” to use in and out of battle (and when I mean “medicine”, I totally mean drugs!). Ever wonder what it would be like to be a drug dealer? Look no further!。

 。

 。 。

。The control scheme used for CrimeCraft is very typical for first/third person shooters: WSAD for movement, MOUSE1 for firing, MOUSE2 for precise aiming, SHIFT for sprinting and SPACEBAR for action rolling. On a personal note: I wasn’t too fond of not being able to lean or switch aiming sides, so I couldn’t use most of my usual TPS tactics here. Also: Throwing grenades were a bit of a pain for me since they’re listed under skills, and each skill is mapped to the F1-F5 keys. Fortunately, these keys can be remapped.。

The game starts off in a way that really caught me off guard: Instead of heading straight into a tutorial, the game dumps you straight into a live match.。

Back in 2009, CrimeCraft was released by Vogster Entertainment as a subscription based MMO third person shooter that received meager reception. Since then, the game has been updated, tweaked and reworked into a F2P MMO shooter; all while receiving its first major expansion called “The Bleedout”, which features a handful of new content. But with all this and more, does this game finally have enough street cred?。

 。

First, you’re obviously going to need a tough look for yourself when hitting up the streets, but that’s probably going to have to wait since the initial customization options are a bit lacking. For both male and female characters, you only get a handful of hairs, faces, shirts, shoes, etc. After cycling through the options and hitting the” randomize” button a few times, I managed to find a somewhat decent look, but still couldn’t help but feel like my new dude came straight out of a mental ward.。

 。

Besides from a few quests that you can take, there’s always something going down, such as tournaments you can participate in on a daily and weekly basis. I think this is a great way to keep the community active and give players something new to do every time they log in.。

 。

 。

Community - 3。

Powered by Unreal Engine 3, the world of CrimeCraft sets a damn good vibe of creating a post-apocalyptic city. The textures seem to be a bit sloppy and low-res in a few places, but for the most part the environments are fantastic.。

 。

Graphics/Presentation – 4。

 。

Controls – 2。

 。

You also have the ability to start up a gang (clan/guild system), allowing you to start up a nice little hideout. If you’re feeling dominant, you can challenge other gangs and wage war while betting some cash on the side. With a gang, you can also start a night club business and have players pay to get in. Starting up or joining a gang is one of the easiest ways to make money in CrimeCraft, and very recommended, since a lot of items are expensive as hell.。

CrimeCraft features a lot of content compared to its competition, making the experience well above average. It doesn’t re-invent the wheel, but its dark atmosphere alone makes the game stand above most other F2P shooters. If you’re looking for a long lasting experience or just looking to pop off a few heads every now and then, CrimeCraft is certainly worth a try.。

 。

 。

 。

While the initial customization was lacking, you’ll have a good chunk of options much later on. Most clothing items that can be purchased with in-game money also have stats applied to them, so you might want to think twice about which clothing options to go with. The only way for your character to have the look you want with the stats you want is to pick up avatar clothing which covers over your stat clothing. The only way to get these is by purchasing them from the black market with gold bars (real money) or by bidding off another player’s avatar items at the auction house. Not really my cup of tea, but seems fair enough.。 。

While the population is a bit low, you’ll find more than enough players around to start a match or instance. The community here contains your typical bunch of friendly, rude and mild mannered players as in every free-to-play online game so don’t expect anything out of the ordinary.。

 。

 。

Simply put: The controls scheme for CrimeCraft is as average as average can be, so you should be able to get used to them as soon as your start playing.。

Guns, Drugs, Sex, Violence and Explosions! All of this and more can be found in the wonderfully grim and dreary world of CrimeCraft!。

Final Fantasy Legacy

FF Legacy is an online version of FF2e (Super Nintendo) And it's like JUST LIKE FF2. There's random battles and everything. Check this out..

Gameplay: *** 1/2
The gameplay of the game has it's ups and downs. Ups are things like the battle system. Downs are things like SUPER WALKING. It aint called that but that's how I see it, cuz the game is laggy at times. The FF-Like battle system makes up for it, however :)

COMMUNITY: **** 1/2
The Community is filled with very nice people. I love the community. Only bad thing is newbies chasing you around asking to party with you. The staff and people are very nice.

GRAPHICS: **
*Judging from a 2D Scale.
The graphics are just like FF2e if you've played it. The same monsters and everything. The same tiles, characters, towns, etc. Since none of it is not made by them I took away a star.

SOUND: ** 1/2
Not good! Only because there is no background music, but there is sound effects. Hopefully BG Music is coming :) However the sound effects are quite good.

SKILLS/LEVELING UP: *****
Got the classic "Kill Stuff Level Up" thing going on (which is what I like.) Your stats are automatically added for you depending on your class (just like FF!) So that's cool. It also don't take an ETERNITY to level up. *cough*lom*cough*

FEATURES: *****
Love the features. This is what mainly attracted me. First of all, there is a battle system just like FF. So that means random encounters, then you goto the screen and chose Fight Magic Item Run, etc...FF Players you know how it is :) There's a good magery system (White Magic/Black Magic) and classes made for them. (Be a lunarian if you want to be a mage they pwn like omfgz i roxs your boxs). You get gold and experience after each battle. Partying is awesome. The party leader is the only one that has to move, the people in the party just follow him! Then you all get into a battle together and rox the enemy. EXP/Gold is shared among the party. There's tons more of things you just have to see it for yourself.

OVERALL: ****
Almost a perfect game for me (well I *am* a FF fanatic) but there's only 3 towns as of right now. Still an overall awesome game, not just a "time killer". Find me ingame under the name Octavious and if you decide to play it I'll help ya level up a bit :-)

Keep in mind that this game uses the BYOND engine. So you will need to download BYOND first, then goto the FF Legacy site and click on Join Game. There's also many other great games located at BYOND.com, check it out.。 By Onrpg

Dofus Interview

OnRPG: What is your favorite character to play in Dofus?
It is hard to choose but I, personally, play a Sram for I feel like it is the class that is the most tactical to play. But I also enjoy playing a Xelor or an Eniripsa. I have not yet had the time to try the different possibilities offered by the Pandawas but it seems to be a very interesting class as well.
I guess it is hard to say that you have a favorite class to play in DOFUS as it will really depend on your own personality and your style of gameplay. Every class has its own utility either against monsters or against other players, which is making every character build interesting. 。 Dofus Interview
Questions by Brian Perry Jr
Answered by Dofus。
OnRPG: You offer the game for free, but also have a subscription service. What are the differences, and why should someone pay when they can get it for free?
The free-to-play region is a chance for anyone to discover the game and some of its functionalities. With the recent expansion of Incarnam, a floating island where beginners can have fun and more advanced players cannot take advantage of them, newcomers can enjoy a big part of the DOFUS universe. If they decide to subscribe, for a very reasonable price, they will have access to the complete game, including all the jobs with no level caps, pets, mounts, the whole map accessible, the PvP system, and more functionalities. They can fight a huge choice of monsters, get new quests and have the chance to realize the ultimate challenge: gather the 6 Legendary Dragon Eggs: the Dofus. 。
OnRPG: What changes can players expect in the new installment?
With the possibility of changing their stats, players will have the opportunity to try different buids on a same character, some class spell will also be changed to allow more various builds for each class.
Some other modifications will be made to give the class spell more interest in a fight, as most of the characters are now based on their close combat weapons and do not use their spells.
The new PvP system will make more zones available for conquest, and players will get higher ranks by participating to territories’ conquest or defence.
Of course, with new monsters, new items will be available and most of the sets that can only be found on monsters at the moment will get an associated reciepe, so that craftmen will be able to create them.。
OnRPG: There is a new installment of Dofus due out soon. Can you tell us more about this?
It will be the “Otomai’s Island”, a new tropical island to be added to the DOFUS World. On this Island, new dungeons will allow players to forget their spells, on get their characteristic points back by lowering their stats to 101 or 0. It will of course come with a lot of new monsters and a major change in the PvP system.。OnRPG: Dofus has been around quite a while and is continuing to be a hit. What do you attribute this to?
DOFUS has been very popular for several reasons. First of all, the DOFUS universe, inspired by mangas and comics, is echoing this culture that is very popular around teenagers and young adults. Unlike other MMORPGS, DOFUS is colorful, with its own humor (often cynical) and very easy to access (around 100Mo to download for free, Flash based). At the moment, it is the Online Game that must have the lowest hardware requirements as it can be played on old Operating Systems, and does not need a brand new computer with the latest graphic card or a broadband internet connection. It could be considered as a surprise, but DOFUS is also very popular among Mac and Linux users. Indeed, they are very few MMORPGs that are compatible with those systems, therefore those players are pleased to find a game with decent requirements and easy to access.
The frequent updates and expansions added to DOFUS, still for free, are also part of its success. We are always willing to add new contents and functionalities to the game that will enhance the immersion of our players. 。Players will enter this universe where everything will have to be rebuilt by them. The character evolution system will also be different from DOFUS as there will not be based on character leveling but on spells leveling, i.e. the more a spell will be cast, the more it will be powerful (from level 1 to 100). The gameplay will be different from DOFUS as it will be in Java, their will be a unique map representing the whole huge island each community will settle on.
。The Players will have to manage themselves and their environment, one of the biggest improvements being that there will be no NPCs in Wakfu and regular elections for the players to choose a Governor. The different monster species will migrate at certain times of the year, will escape zones where they are too hunted in order to survive, forests will change depending on how much wood will be cut by players, forcing the last to be responsible about how to manage properly the resources available on their island.。
OnRPG: How does Dofus Arena differ from Dofus?
Dofus-Arena is aimed at tactical fight lovers. The idea was to create a game, based on the DOFUS universe, using the turn-by-turn fighting system, where you can control a whole team with one account. In Dofus-Arena, only the best strategies will grant you the title of Champion, you will have to manage your team wisely to beat every opponent you will find. Unlike MMOs, there are no quests to complete, no monsters to fight, it is a pure PvP game.。
OnRPG: Are there any other projects your company is working on that you can share with us?
We are offering a range of products based on DOFUS at the moment: manga series, artbooks and several goodies. Those are made to show a different aspect of DOFUS as authors use their own graphic style to create new stories. With Wakfu we are reaching another level as a TV animated series will be produced, with links to the game, as well as a Wakfu game on the Nintendo DS. We really want to create a multi-support universe around our games, for our fans to be able to see the different aspects of their game.。
OnRPG: Wakfu is a new game coming out from your company soon. According to the wonderfully done video on the website, it appears to be a sequel to Dofus. What can you tell us about this? (ignore this if it is the addon to dofus you mentioned in the email)
Wakfu (www.wakfu.com) is our future MMORPG, to be released in 2008. It is the sequel to DOFUS, taking place a thousand years after DOFUS. Ogrest the ogre has gathered the 6 Dofus and has brought devastation to the World.

Megaten Preview can IMAGINE do it

By Michael Justice, Onrpg writer

Popular franchises such as Megami Tensei tend to always have a little bit of something in their various sequels and spin-offs. Our good friends at Cave decided to develop an MMORPG involving the Megami Tensei universe. The name of this MMORPG was said to be “Shin Megami Tensei: IMAGINE”. When I first heard the news, some few months into the Japanese version release, I quickly gathered a couple of friends who were also interested and we signed up for this enticing journey. Needless to say, my very limited kanji and communication skills did not make it feel like an MMORPG, yet it was amazing to simply walk around the game and just look into the features it had to offer (well, those parts we could translate, anyway). Most of my friends left the game a couple of weeks into it and I was forced to quit. I wanted more from the game, yet the language barrier was just too much for me to handle. Being cut off from part of an MMORPG makes me feel curious and frustrated; two very annoying emotions to have at the same time. Feeling beaten, I removed it from my mind in hopes that a translation would be on the way. Here we are, near the end of 2008 and I finally have an answer to my prayers! I can return to the world which was once unavailable to me, and continue the story which was only half written!

Before I begin expressing detail, please remember that this is simply a preview and nothing more. My first hand opinion is not a finalized summary of what the game has to offer. There were many barriers in my way during the closed beta, such as disconnects and lag (which were all attended to marvelously, by the way), and some content was not yet open.

There are plenty of things that this game does right. IMAGINE has plenty to offer here. Starting off with the combat, you might be surprised at how fast-paced it can be. I often see people compare it to rock-paper-scissors. This, I guess, is sort of true in the way that if you're scissors, and rock beats scissors, you get punched in the face. There's “guard”, which you can use to reduce the enemy's damage to a minimum and make the enemy flinch, leaving them open to any type of attack. This can be broken through with “rush”, a melee type skill which shatters the guard and deals damage while flinching the enemy. This, in turn, can be countered with, well, “counter”, which simply reflects the damage and knocks the enemy back.

That is only the beginning, as there are also things like magic and guns which can be factored into the battle. As you use these skills more often, they will rank up and you will eventually be able to learn more advanced versions of them. Hopefully I have covered the basics of the combat system, at least as to what effects what. Since there are no classes per-se, you are free to pick whichever style suits you. You do, however, have only a limited amount of stat points, so your damage might suffer, but it might be an invaluable skill you need for strategies during battles. Some enemies are weak to certain things. Kodamas, for example, are weak to fire-based skills. In this case, if you used agi or fire breath, it would do a lot more damage than it would on a regular, non-weak monster. Pretty simple, right? Monsters can also have resistances, in which case attacks of that type do no damage, and reflections, in which case the damage you did will be reflected back at you. This being said, you really need to mix up your combat skills a lot, because you will be very vulnerable to enemy defenses, as well as their attacks, if you are only using a sword and slashing at everything that moves.

Luckily, you are not alone. You are probably wondering how the hell you're supposed to be completely offensive and defensive against enemies, whilst simultaneously hitting their weak points and avoiding their resistances, right? Well, this is where the signature Megami Tensei demon-summoning system comes in. Your demons are like another player entirely. You can, of course, use their skills vis-a-vis another hot-bar above your own. You can even manually control them if you want to, simply by tabbing over to them.

While these are both good, you might be a little too preoccupied at some points, which is why each demon has a set AI menu that you can adjust in order to affect how your demon to helps you out. When people say that there are a lot of demons out there, they mean it. There are a couple of hundred demons that you can wind up with, whether you like them for their skills, or because they are small, cute and cuddly (unseasoned decaribias are very cute) They all have status attributes, just like the players. Most demons that you obtain from capturing will start with a set amount of skills. As you level them up they acquire new ones that are related to their previous skills (for example, Jack Frost comes with bufu, then later learns bufula, a more powerful version of bufu).

There is also a demon fusion system, in which demons that you have fused may “inherit” skills that both demons have learned, as well as some new ones that you may acquire specially through this demon fusion. This means that you can, essentially, have a demon with all the skills you want, if you fuse enough demons. It is a great way to compliment each person's play style and can lead to some very interesting combat mechanics. Sadly, you will be limited by the amount of demons you can summon, as well as posses. Firstly, demons cost mag to summon, which drops from all demons, yet all demons have alignments. Alignments play a key role to demon summoning, as it determines how much mag it will cost. In the end, you can pick any alignment and still have access to a large number of demons with reasonable costs, but this is put here simply to keep players from constantly switching demons, which would just be shallow anyway.

Shin Megami Tensei fans will not be displeased with the post-apocalyptic atmosphere of IMAGINE. The setting, while seeming generic at first, really makes you feel like a disaster has struck the land, and that you are a part of the remnants. Broken buildings, dead trees, underground cities; yes, we have it all folks. While this is nice and all, many people hardly pay attention to the setting. It is just under-appreciated, and while some players want to do nothing but beat the stuffing out of pixies all day, there is definitely a feeling that you're a part of the demon busters who roam the wastelands of Tokyo in a search to help rebuild society. Just know that there is an actual storyline.

From Act 0, you are thrown into the storyline head-first. The way the story progresses is through “Acts”, which if you follow correctly can yield some nice experience (and let's face it, you were going to do them anyway for the storyline). Minor cut-scenes still hold a major role in the game, putting emphasis on the way that you change IMAGINE's world. This type of storyline, tied in with an on-line universe, is exactly how all storylines in MMORPGs should progress. The only negative thing about this is that you will eventually run out of Acts, as there is only so far a story can go. My entire team of friends cleared all 16 acts in less than a week.

IMAGINE holds a lot under its belt as a free MMORPG that is based on a console game. It might develop well or it might not. Who knows? The game has received great deal of attention, yet it is still in the process of growing. I am trusting Aeria Games to hold it close to them, and I am hoping that they know what they have on their hands. To all people looking to IMAGINE, I would say definitely give it a shot if you are looking for something different. For those hard-core Megami Tensei fans, I am just hoping you don't blow it off simply because it's on-line. For both console and regular MMORPG-fans alike, it is a game that you can count on for a unique and great experience. Hope to see you in the official release!

Spiral Knights Nostalgia Made New

 。

 。

 。

Of course, there is somewhat of a solution to the first problem, and that's heading back to the surface and selling your stuff, but it will usually be stuff that you'll need to craft your own equipment to continue on, so the dirty cycle continues. The current energy system only gives free players around two hours of play time, and that's only if they don't they don't screw up and die constantly, forcing them to spend more energy to revive themselves or hope that other players are willing to use their energy to revive them.。

 。

The Clockworks are in full rotation as Three Ring Design (with some help from Sega) released a brand new multiplayer adventure called Spiral Knights. Through the power of JAVA based programming, Spiral Knights mixes classic dungeon crawling with tons of MMO goodness, all working within your internet browser!。

 。

 。

If you're looking for a casual experience, Spiral Knights will be perfect for you. However, there isn't enough content here to keep a power player busy, especially with the lack of content stemming from the lack of different stages to explore. The Clockworks promises to have tons of new stages to explore, but in truth, many stages you visit are simply re-tooled with different monsters to fight against.。

My personal favorite was the Autogun because it looks suspiciously like a Nerf Maverick.。

No official gamepad support
Lack of content
Energy system needs a bit of retooling。

 。

Overall: Spiral Knights is a great game to those looking for a casual pacing and a bit of nostalgic gaming. Those that are looking for a much more extensive experience will probably have to wait awhile for more content to roll in, and judging by the constant amount of updates being churned out by Three Ring Design, that shouldn't be too far off.。

 。

While you are essentially not required to buy anything with real money, the energy system in Spiral Knights serves as an elevator key, a crafting substance and a pseudo-fatigue system. Energy is used for just about everything, and you will need to keep your energy up by either buying some with real money or by exchanging your hard earned crowns (in-game currency) for some.。

For anyone that's willing to drop in a few bucks from time to time, having a constant supply of energy will be no problem, but for anyone that doesn't want to pay will have two problems: When all their mist energy (free rechargeable energy) is gone, they'll have to exchange their crowns for crystal energy to continue venturing the dungeons while potentially missing out on being able to purchase new equipment and recipes for a while, or they will simply have to wait up to 22 hours for their mist energy to refill back to 100.。

The difficulty curve for each dungeon seems to be nice and appropriate: Tier 1 dungeons are a cakewalk, Tier 2 dungeons get a little more complicated and Tier 3 dungeons requires some serious skill, patience and teamwork. Venturing through each dungeon is as simple as defeating a couple of enemies in one area, moving on to the next area, fight some more enemies, find some treasures and head for the exit. It's nice and simple, just like a dungeon crawler should be.。

As fun as adventuring into the Clockworks can be, the biggest issue with Spiral Knights is a lack of content and the energy system.。

 。

 。

 。

The game gets you up to speed with a control scheme that is incredibly simple. So simple, in fact, that you can play the game with one hand: Hold left mouse button in a general direction to move, press left mouse button to attack and use the scroll wheel to switch weapons.
You can also use keyboard for more options such as blocking and using vials. Controls for keyboard & mouse work great, but the lack of gamepad support is fairly disappointing considering the game could easily pass as a console title.。

Crash landing on a strange planet, you and a bunch of other knights must explore the world that waits below them in order to build a new ship and make it back home (or wherever they were going...)。

The amount of weapon types at your disposal is small, but the variations between each one is vast. Each sword, gun and bomb type work differently and have different attributes, such as Cutters that can perform lighting fast attacks or the slow and powerful hatchets that can cause a stun effects with heavy blows. This will give players a small amount of strategy before heading into dungeons, but you'll most likely find one or two weapon and armor sets that will work best for you depending on which tier you've reached.。

 。

 。

 。

 。

Just to give you a general idea about how much content we are dealing with here: Some players have already been spotted with 5-star equipment, which is supposedly endgame equipment and the game has only been out for a couple of weeks...。

 。

Did you enjoy playing that fire themed stage over and over again? Well good, because now you get to play an incredibly similar stage with an ice theme!。

 。

 。

The overall presentation of Spiral Knights screams "nostalgia" at every turn. The visual style and level designs look like they came straight out of a Legend of Zelda game. There is also some pleasant and epic music with a 16-bit vibe.。

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

One thing I really got to say, though: The community in Spiral Knights is probably one of the nicest online communities I have ever played with. Everyone playing acts like a total bro, always there to lend a hand and everyone is always doing their best to conquer dungeons with you. I have never come across one rude player. Not one! But then again, the game is centered on PvE, so the community has no reason to be full of elitists or anything like that。

 。

Zelda style dungeon crawler
Browser game; can be played on almost any PC
Clean visuals
Nostalgic 16-bit music。

For starters: Creating your knights gives you a small but adequate amount of choices, along with different color schemes that will stick with you depending on the different armors you will be equipping later on.。

 。

Most of the monsters you will do battle against are fairly predictable to take down, but when you have to deal with huge mobs of them, battles tend to get fairly frustrating at times.。

 。

 。

 。

One common mistake that most action/adventure games have when setting difficulty curves is when they simply give enemies higher HP and higher attack power instead of making them smarter, but enemies in Spiral Knights do indeed get smarter at higher difficulties. This is especially true of gremlins that will dodge bullets like crazy and run away to heal themselves when they are low on health.

Horizons

First the game is P2P, 13 dollars per month. With a free month trial.
Grouping I haven’t grouped much, as I haven’t gotten any chars I’ve tried out high enough. So can’t rate this.
Crafting Normally I wouldn’t like any crafting in a MMORPG, but, this is where the game passes, the crafting rocks. Equip an item needed to craft, start mining it, craft it into whatever you need to craft the item you want and it’s done. I haven’t explored this part of the game much yet so. 8/10
Monsters A nice variety, in the beginning there’s not much variety besides undead. A lot of maggots/zombies in the beginning. In the world there’s mostly undead, with different kinds of elements thrown in. 8/10
Solo Solo rocks in this game, recent MMORPG’s have been forced grouping, luckily you can still solo monsters, it’s not like Asheron’s call where you can solo monsters 50 levels or higher above you. But you can still solo without having to group. 9/10
Music/sound affects The music is pretty good, don’t listen to it much so, I haven’t gone into the blighted areas in beta the lighting affects in blighted areas was good. The monster noises are good also. The magic sounds are good to. 8/10
Graphics It might just be me, but with graphics set on High, they are great, any higher it starts to lag, that might be the game so. The character details are nice, especially on the dragons. I love the blighted areas graphics, and Tazoon, the capitol city, wow, the most awesome city in any game I’ve seen, although, it’s pretty much empty for such a huge city. One thing Horizons is missing so which well lower the score, no weather affects besides the blighted areas. Hopefully they plan to add weather. 8/10
Items/Loot Everything you find on a monster as to be crafted, nothing you can use, except imperial tokens, which you can use to buy crafting formulas or sell them for a lot, on my server they sale for about 200 copper. Items are nice, a lot of things have a restriction on them so, they don’t decay, which some people don’t like. The no useable loot on monsters lowers the score. 6/10
Races/classes This is my favorite part of the game, so many races to choose from, and any race can be good with any class, so a half giant could be a mage if he wanted, although it makes more sense to be a melee with one. There’s a lot of races/classes to choose from. Then prestige classes you choose if you want once you get enough of the requirements to become one. 10/10
Overall No PVP, but I never PVP anyways, So far I’m having a lot of fun, the AI where monsters gather up then attack player cities is a nice idea. Magic classes are fun watching the spell affects, although I noticed they leveled slower. You can build bridges across lands to get to a new land, repair dungeons, unlock new races. The blighted areas well always be different on each server, all servers well be different, one server might have a bridge, another might have unlocked a new race. Overall I rate this 8/10

FusionFall Review Play Alongside Your Favorite Cartoon Characters

By Dane Frandsen (Lefos), Onrpg writer What would you say if I were to tell you that all of your favorite Cartoon Network original characters just happened to inhabit the same universe?  Quite believable seeing as how more than one cameo had occurred, right?  Now, what if I told you that their world was under siege from an evil alien planet and its overlord?  Again, not much of a stretch considering some of the plots that had been seen on a number of Cartoon Network shows (Or the entirety of the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.).  Now, what if I were to tell you that this was the premise of Cartoon Networks first ever massively multiplayer online game, FusionFall?  Sounds good, right?  Well, despite some obvious effort on Cartoon Network’s side, it doesn’t ever really reach its full potential. Let us get the ball rolling on what I am SURE everyone is curious about, the game world.  As your character, you will be assisting your favorite Cartoon Network characters by completing various quests from them.  Quests help only to further solidify the setting, with objectives ranging from collecting the required materials to repair Dexter's time machine, to collecting money for Eddy, and even retrieving Numah (Yes, they actually do spell it numbah!) Five's stolen pizza toppings.  All of the characters act as you would expect them to, given their various backgrounds established in the shows, meshing together strangely well. While interactions between the characters are sadly lacking, they come off as smooth and, dare I say, natural. This brings me to my next point, the game's story.  While it's nothing amazing it is strangely clever for a free, browser based MMORPG.  Straight from the start, the game thrusts you into interaction with various Cartoon Network original characters.  Strangely enough, this works rather well and actually helps to move the story along.  At the start, you'll find yourself with Dexter, whom you graciously have volunteered to help with a time travel experiment.  However, all is not well, as you hear DeeDee utter those most famous of words("Ooo, what does this button do?").  Thanks to her interfering, you are flung into the future, where your adventure will truly begin.
As previously mentioned, the evil overlord Fuse has arrived, and brought his evil planet Fusion with him, with but one goal: destruction of anything and everything, of course.  While he is doing so, various parts of the game world are becoming infected, creating what are known as infected zones.  But as any loyal Cartoon Network fan of old can tell you, nobody is going down without a fight!  This is where you come in.  After Dexter's experiment goes awry, you find yourself in the future and in the middle of a fight to reclaim the world.
Along the way, you'll be assisted by: Dexter, the Kid's Next Door, Eddy, Eduardo, Samurai Jack, and Mandark.  Keep in mind this is just in the first two or three hours of gameplay!  These characters and more will be there to give you missions through the course of the game, and even assist you in combat(More on that shortly.).  Now, if I had to find one thing to complain about in the myriad of characters it would be the fact that none of them are ever really explained, their backgrounds never truly explored (Oh, and there is no Johnny Bravo.  Seriously, what is up with that?) Speaking of gameplay... this is FusionFall's downfall.  Movement is done via a standard WASD control scheme, while combat consists of locking on to an enemy, and holding down left mouse.  Now, this is broken up by the use of what are called "Nanos", FusionFall's equivalent of skills.  Nanos are obtained via defeating an evil fusion form of the various characters and picking one of three abilities for that Nano(Don't worry, they can be reset at specific points throughout the game.).  These fusion characters are fought as part of special missions, attained when you collect enough "fusion matter", or experience points as they are usually called.  Fusion missions will cause the characters level to advance and open up new missions. With the story, gameplay, and game world itself out of the way, I think it is time for us to discuss what many will find equally important, the graphical and sound quality of the game.  Graphically, the game is visually stunning.  We are talking about a browser game with full 3D environments and cell shaded characters, which I never thought I would see.  The characters have all been recreated into a new anime style, thanks to the amazing efforts of Mario F. Piedra.  Animations are fluid and effects are surprisingly well done, while the environment itself is done is a basic three-dimensional style.
In terms of sound design, it could be worse.  The characters are all voiced by their original voice actors (As far as I can tell.), and the soundtrack is fitting to the atmosphere.  Sound effects for weapons and the like could be stronger, though.  After hearing the same noise from my gun over the course of two hours, I was ready to go smash something with a sledgehammer. Now, after you attain level five in the game, you are able to return to the present, thanks to your efforts towards rebuilding Dexter's time machine.  I wish I could give you more information on this point in the game, but it's at that point that the free trial of the game ends and the monthly fee of $5.95 kicks in.  While I can say I did enjoy the game for the novelty of interacting with my favorite cartoon characters from my childhood, I couldn't justify spending the money on it.
While the small attention to detail with the voices is a nice touch, the graphics are astounding, and the story is strangely clever, the overall gameplay just wasn't enough for me to truly enjoy my brief experience.  These goods were all drowned out by poor gameplay, lackluster sound effects, and absolutely ZERO variety.
Now had I been about ten years younger, the game would have been amazing for me, seeing my favorite characters interacting with eachother and getting the chance to even help them myself.  Alas, any Cartoon Network fan over the age of fifteen is better off skipping this game entirely, or getting a quick fix with the short trial that is currently available; while those that are not fans of the Cartoons or their characters are better off not even going near the game’s website. Pros
- Original voice cast adds some awesome character to this already unique world.
- Amazing graphical quality brings your favorite characters to life.
- Witty writing keeps even boring quests interesting with funny quips and clever stories. Cons
- Poor gameplay, you hold left click and sometimes hit right click.
- Repetitive sound effects, you better like that gun’s blast.
- No variety, ALL you do is fight.
- A few missing characters.  I would have loved seeing Johnny Bravo, as well as the full Kids Next Door cast.

Asheron's Call Review

by Vincent Haoson, Onrpg writer

It is a rare sight to find a pay-to-play MMO that was released in the 90’s enjoying a thriving and active fanbase up to now. I can think of a few games that have achieved such a feat but Turbine’s Asheron’s Call (AC) is the one on top of the list.

Why? AC has shown that even a 90’s MMO can still go toe-to-toe in the market with the release of its 100th content update last August, an accomplishment that is exceptional in today’s MMO trend.

What is Asheron’s Call?
In Asheron’s Call, you get to choose between four of the human races found in Dereth, the Aluvians, Gharu’ndim, Sho and the recently added Vilamontians. You can then choose from a standard set of job classes of either the magic, the projectile types: the bowhunter, life caster or war mage, or the melee character types: the wayfarer, soldier or the swashbuckler. If you don’t want to have a pre-determined job class, you can go for the customize option.

The stat allocation for characters is as linear as it can get. Unlike in some games where mixing some stats can get you certain bonuses. In AC, what stat you raise is what attribute you upgrade. After choosing your job and the stats you want to upgrade, you can then allocate the skills your character would have. The skill point allocation in AC is not as diverse like some MMO’s. The stat allocation is so simple you wouldn’t need to waste too much time in trying to figure it out.

After choosing your character skills, you then decide the city where you want to start in. New players won’t have to worry too much about their starting location because the cities would only be important in later levels.

After choosing the race, job, stats, skill and city for your character, you then choose the appearance of your character. The appearance in AC is where things go downhill, the graphics of the game is dated, and its sprites are composed of blocks. At first glance, you would find it hard to distinguish the difference between the male and the female characters. The design of the clothes lack the intricacies that even free-to-play games have, the color is dull and monotonous making the game atmosphere dreary which I think Turbine was opting for.

The dreary colors and blocky graphics are not just seen in the AC’s character creation. Monster and NPCs all follow the blocky graphics the AC engine uses. The color scheme is almost the same wherever you go, and it gives the “old feel” to the game.

Another issue is the way the controls feel, you would need to use the w, a, s, d buttons to make your characters move. The camera view is controlled by the mouse. You can also press the spacebar to make a jump. This wouldn’t be such a problem if the camera was helpful. There are times when you are moving that your camera would go at odd angles hindering your line of sight. It gets tiring especially to keep on pressing the zero button to center the camera view.

AC’s battle system is another issue. Unlike most games where you can immediately attack a monster, you need to toggle on the battle system in AC. This is a problem for new players especially if they are facing an aggressive monster. It’s tricky to toggle the aggressive and passive mode especially if you are preoccupied with something. This type of battle system slows your response time to monster attacks giving new players an irritating gaming experience.

More than Meets the Eye
The game hasn’t thrived for almost a decade on graphics and gameplay alone. AC is more famous for it’s engaging storyline and the uniqueness it offers to the whole MMO industry. AC is a rare MMO where the characters and monsters are not from any pre-existing monster lore. You can see monsters in AC that are exclusively for the game.

And then there is the society system that is exclusive for AC. You can choose between three factions that are available in the game, the Celestial Hand, the Eldrych Web and the Radiant Blood. Upon registration on the society, you need to accomplish tasks and quests that are exclusively for the society you chose, and on its completion you get to be rewarded handsomely.

The society system is also important in the PvP land control that happens in AC. There are three towns in Dereth that your society can control. If you gain a town, you can have access to the highly coveted black market.

The black market is a special market that is only available for acquired towns. They sell uncommon materials, items and equipment that is not usually sold in town NPCs.

Another unique system in AC is the allegiance system. This is where you can pay homage and loyalty to one lord and the lord would get some of the experience points you have earned. In exchange your lord may provide you items, equipment and money that you need. The trouble is, whatever compensation your lord will give to you is highly dependent on what he has, or what you two have agreed upon.

This system is troublesome and could in fact be a problem if your lord would abuse his position. That is why having a lord in AC is a high-risk maneuver that is why I suggest you take it at your own risk.

I mustn’t forget the most important aspect of AC, the community. AC has a thriving and active in-game community, I think that this is the reason why AC has stayed for so long. Players are connected one way or another. Players in AC are helpful and some would even teach you along the way. This kind of a bustling community is hard to find in other MMOs nowadays.

Conclusion
Over all Asheron’s Call is disappointing in the aesthetics department, with the dated and blocky graphics to the irritating camera angles and controls, new players need a whole lot of convincing to spend their money to play the game.

Turbine has successfully kept its long time players with the constant monthly content update. The vibrant and welcoming community is also another thing to consider in AC. The question remains though is that will it be enough to make you spend your money to get a monthly subscription for it? That answer is for you to decide.

Pros:
- Lively in-game community
- Monthly content updates that livens the game
- Engaging and evolving storyline

Cons:
- Blocky and dated graphics
- Irritating camera angles
- Battle system needs some time to get used to
- Controls needs some time to get used to
